As part of our campaign "Under 18s having Injectable Treatments – What’s the Issue?" we interviewed a 16-year-old to learn about her perspective on having injectable treatments under age. Click here to watch.
We were surprised to discover that treatments like lip fillers are popular among her peers, with several girls at her school already having had the procedure.
This interview highlights the critical need for young individuals to be fully informed about the potential risks and complications associated with these procedures.
What's even more concerning is that these girls are unhappy with the results of their treatments. To address their dissatisfaction, they will need to return to their practitioner to have the filler dissolved, which is both costly and uncomfortable. But what happens when their lips return to their original size? Do they try again with filler? This situation illustrates how a single decision to have lip filler at a young age can lead onto having further treatments.
This is why it is essential to understand that the reality may differ significantly from what is often portrayed on social media or promised by practitioners.
By sharing these insights, we aim to promote better awareness and encourage informed decision-making.
Let’s ensure that young people are equipped with the knowledge they need to make safe choices.
